Dr. Rhiannon Packer, Director
Dr Rhiannon Packer is a senior lecturer in Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is the Programme Director for both the National MA (Wales) and Doctor of Education (EdD) (Wales) and ALN pathway lead. Rhiannon became interested in supporting children and young people with ALN while working as a Welsh second language teacher as a secondary school and later undertook a postgraduate diploma in Special Educational Needs specialising in Specific Learning Difficulties. She has taught British Dyslexia Association accredited courses for teachers and teaching assistants and is currently leading a team working on a Welsh medium assessment for literacy difficulties. Rhiannon’s research interests include supporting learners with ALN and exploring the educational transition experiences of learners. In her spare time Rhiannon enjoys going for long walks with friends, or can be found curled up reading a good novel or two!
